Queen of the Disco

May 1977, Bianca Jagger Celebrates her 30th Birthday at newly opened New York Club STUDIO 54. She entered the party on a white horse, and established the now legendary club's hotspot status and its infamous, over the top scene of sex, drugs, and disco.  STUDIO 54 was the place to see and be seen in the hottest fashion of the Disco era.

Bianca Jagger, then wife of Rolling Stones front Man Mic Jagger was a perfectly sculpted model muse for the long, clean, glittering lines of 70's GLAM fashion...most of which was inspired by, and worn to be seen at studio 54. Bianca was a major style icon of the 70's and 80's with a friend list including Halston himself and Andy Warhol she influenced fashion and art more that anyone at the time, and she LOVED to party!

With the return of 70's GLAM into modern fashion we can't help but to look to Bianca for fashion inspiration. Clothing was masterminded for this woman to go out in! She graced magazine covers, hosted parties, and now works as a civil rights activist, but her time spent on top at STUDIO 54 will be fresh in our minds as fashion currently takes its inspiration from Disco. The clothing was not just androgynous, it carried a sexual ambiguity that fit the complexity of much of the music. Just as the music was something not heard before, so were the clothes something very specific to this time. They were vivid, bold and astonishing, and inspired a lot of fervent copiers.

Halston must have been reliving the days of disco for this years show at Paris fashion week, sending looks down the runway that are fit for a queen of disco.

Halston was not the only one taking the 6 to STUDIO 54 this year at Fashion Week, multiple design houses took inspiration from the decadent decade, most on point? Gucci.
